Japan’s Mami Kudo set a new 24 hour world record at the Soochow International 24 hour ultramarathon in Taiwan, December 11th 2011. Kudo broke her own record set in 2009 with a new total of 255.303 km surpassing her old record of 254.425 km/158.126 miles in Taipei,Taiwan.
Leading the womens race from the start Kudo finished second overall, less than 6 km behind race winner Ryoichi Sekiya.
In 2012 Kudo ran 235.129 km and was first woman, 4th overall and will return for the 2014 event taking place December 11th according to multidays.com as will the 2012 winner Ryoichi Sekiya. This will be the 13th running of the event which usually has a quality field.
