Gloucester 24 Hour Track Race 2014

A new 24 hour race is being organised this June to commemorate The anniversary of Dave Dowdle’s setting of the British 24 hour record which was then a world record in May 1982 of 274.480 km, 170 miles 974 yards.

Taking place at the newly refurbished Blackbridge Jubilee track at Podsmead in Gloucester. Organised by Pam Storey,. who recently organised the British Ultra Fest and the annual Crawley 6 & 12 hour races, in conjunction with Gloucester AC, this promises to be a great way to celebrate the Summer in the West of England.

The event is also timed to try and provide a qualifying opportunity for the British 24 hour team. At the time of writing the date and location of the 2014 World and European 24 hour Championships have yet to be announced however the January meeting of the IAU is taking place this weekend, 17th January so no doubt all will soon be revealed..

Entry for the race is online via EntryCentral and is £75/77. Awards and t-shirts will be given and 3 meals, snacks and hot drinks will be provided at the track.

Kudo & Sekiya To Return To Soochow International 24 Hour Race 2013

Japan’s Mami Kudo set a new 24 hour world record at the Soochow International 24 hour ultramarathon in Taiwan, December 11th 2011. Kudo broke her own record set in 2009 with a new total of 255.303 km surpassing her old record of 254.425 km/158.126 miles in Taipei,Taiwan.
